Clovelly Bookbinding Workshop

Introduction to Bookbinding, The New Inn, Clovelly

I’m lucky enough to live in Clovelly, a rather special part of the country tucked away on the Devon coast. Two weeks ago I was asked if I’d run a bookbinding workshop here in the village, as part of their celebrations for Charles Kingsley’s bicentennial. Normally this would most likely be too short notice, not really enough time to let people know about the workshop, unlikely to get many bookings – especially at this time of year when people are looking for things to do outdoors. However! As I only live at the top of the hill, and the idea of running a workshop right on my doorstep appealed to me, I jumped at the opportunity.

Four lovely budding bookbinders arrived at The New Inn to take their seats at 10.30am and we didn’t waste any time getting stuck into making some books.

Today was one of those days where we found ourselves well ahead of schedule all day, no danger of the workshop overrunning at all, even having plenty of time to pop next door to the bar for a brew! 🙂

Some pictures below taken throughout the day…

All in all a very enjoyable & thoroughly good fun day!

If you’d like to come along on one of my bookbinding workshops, you can view my full course schedule here: Bookbinding Workshops. If there’s a particular type of binding that you’d like to learn & I don’t have it listed as a workshop, do feel free to contact me as I’m always happy to schedule new & different types of bookbinding.

If you’re unable to attend one of my workshops but would like to have a go at bookbinding, I’ve created a Bookbinding Kit – perfect for complete beginners & those with experience alike, it really is a “bookbinding workshop in a box”!
