Make Your Own Bookcloth
May 18 @ 10:00 am - 4:30 pm£55
I pride myself on making the wonderful craft of bookbinding accessible to as many people as possible without the need for specialist tools or materials so I have brought bookcloth out of the bindery and onto the kitchen table.
In this workshop I will show you 3 processes that will enable you to turn almost any fabric into a structured covering material for books – fom silk to cotton to corduroy to tweed, from your baby’s first frock to your wedding dress.
You will learn two types of paper backing suitable for very lightweight and very heavyweight fabrics and how to make buckram bookcloth using delightful cotton prints (fat quarters).
A large selection of fabrics will be provided on the day at no extra cost but feel free to bring along your own.
This Workshop will be held at my studio situated in Boutport Street in the centre of Barnstaple.
£55 per person including all tools and materials …. + tea and biscuits! 🙂
